The Never Updated Blog

So, today I went on a blogtrek. I started following blog links beginning on JPTH International and prety soon I was way, way, way past six degrees of separation. And yet somehow I ended up on Santa's Blog where I learned how the jolly old elf met the missus among other things. The site is sponsored by a company called Five Star Experience based out of Toronto. I've been to Toronto countless times, I mean I only live about 100 kms away and I have actually heard about this five star thing so maybe 6 degrees of separation isn't so unreasonable. Anyway the idea of Five Star is that most people we buy Christmas gifts for already have everything. Instead of suggesting that you better spend your money by giving it to charities that will help the needy, they suggest that you give the person experiences. You can buy the person an experience or a package of experiences and then the person gets to choose from their list of experiences. With experiences such as bungee jumping a day at the spa or a private sailing lesson. Anyway, if I have a wealthy patron out there who feels like spending $850 on me so I can do the deluxe "Rennaissance Man" package then please step forward, but only if you have buckets of cash and have given a fair chunk of it to a more worthy cause first. I think my gift receiving policy is getting a little too strict. Oh well . . .

So, I got to wondering if I had coined a new term in the word BLOGTREK. It appears I am not. However, I think I may have used it in a new way. Well, that is kind of unsubstantiated. I really only clicked on the first link when I searched other blogs for the term blogtrek so I must go back and check now, please excuse me a moment . . . . . . .well, it appears the only one to use the term is the author of a blog called Finksville. He devoted an entire blog to his blogtrekking, but alas, he only ever posted a test post. . . . .Anyway, it appears that Google has heard the term a bit more than the 6 times that blogger has. In fact, Google reported 137 instances of the term blogtrek. From reading these I have come to a semi-formal definition:

blogtrek; blogtreking, blogtrekked, blogtrekker: 1. To search for blogs containing one's name as part of the title or author's name with the intention of rating their 'coolness'. 2. Frequent use of the "next blog" button with the intention of reviewing the sites visited. These searches may or may not employ the prime directive of blogtrekking. 3. To follow the blog links of your friends and their frinds until you have encounter an interesting blog. See also blogroll link-surfing.

Well, there you have it. I think I will probably begin blog trekking as the urge occurs. I'll let you know what crazy sites I end up on.
